Remember how I left the last blog with things were starting to calm down for us?
Yeah...apparently I lied.
Things have definitely calmed down a bit, but we have still had an entertaining few months.
It seems as though we have struck an extremely "lucky" strip of time.
Get your drinks and snacks. Bring me a beer, too.
Ya good? Where's my beer?
Cheers.
Okay. Let me go back a bit.
I had struck gold with getting free tickets to all of the Devils pre season home games. I believe I touched on this in the last post.
Christi and I had a blast, as usual. So, we decided we wanted to go to opening night. We had a blast year, so figured this year would be a blast too. Christi ended up being able to grab $35 tickets...that were ice level and at these pretty cool tables. It was pretty epic.
This is us at the end of the "red carpet".
Midway through the game, I spotted one of the Devils players (who seems to be limbo with a contract..or basically just waiting to announce retirement) sitting in the section next to us. No one really seemed to be noticing him. I hate being that person who decides to point out someone "famous" and then starting a flurry of madness. But, I said to Christi, whenever he walked back up to the top of the section I wanted to run over and try and get a picture with him.
Well, at the end of the period he got up. I basically flipped my chair trying to run over to catch him. Apparently, I really wasn't the only person who noticed it was him. There were a few other people waiting for autographs and pictures. He, however, was not in a good mood. He never actually stopped walking to sign...and he never said anything. I felt bad, so I was going to just let it go. Christi was not. She basically stopped him and was like "Will you take a picture with my friend?" He didn't say anything, but he did stop walking and posed with me. This is why Christi is awesome. I got to "meet" a Devils player I have loved since I was a kid.
Notice his "grumpy" face.
So, we walked out of that game feeling pretty accomplished.
After that, Christi and I remembered that she had a code for 2 free tickets to a game. I took the code and went on the site. I ended up deciding that all I was worried about was how close we could get. Since the tickets for free, I figured I would use that to my advantage. We ended up sitting 4 rows behind the goal for a game the week of my Birthday. It was totally epic.
Flash forward to that Friday, my Birthday. I get a phone call from a number I know is the Devils. Usually, when they call they are just trying to sell me season tickets...so I don't answer.
They left a voicemail, so I decided to check. Ends up, I had won tickets and a pre-game tour of the arena that night. Great birthday, huh? I get to pick where my tickets are, so I decided again we should just sit as close as we can.
Then, about an hour later, Christi ends up winning too. I take her code for tickets and get as close as I can again. We ended up asking my parents if they wanted to go and use Christi's tickets. They were super excited to go.
Christi and I had to be there early...so we went without my parents. Christi usually meets me in Newark because she works close. I usually take the train. Well, I end up missing the train. I decided that I was just going to drive because I had to be there at 5...but my Aunt showed up just as I was leaving and offered to drive me down. I got there on time, and we met the ticket rep who was walking us around.
He walked us around as much as he could, ending in the penalty box.
During that game, I ended up getting a text message from another ticket rep asking me to meet him at the top of the section we were sitting in. It ended up that I had won tickets for yet another game. This time it was for a game in December...that just so happened to be Star Wars night. We decided that I should ask our friend Sloan to go, since he loves Star Wars.
About 10 minutes later, Christi gets a text message. She is asked to meet a ticket rep at the top of my parent's section. She runs over there, then proceeds to call me a few minutes later. She had won tickets to the same game, but she was also being upgraded to a suite for the rest of the game.
I ran over to meet her, and we were walked up to our suite. Pretty awesome birthday, eh?
We ended that evening meeting my cousin out for some live band karaoke. It was pretty interesting. Definitely different. Way harder to do that regular karaoke. But..we still had fun.
After that evening, I don't remember what the timeline was for any of these events, so I'm just going to go with how I am remembering them.
We went to Christi's cousin's wedding. It ended up being really fun. We went with her parents, her mom drove. We ended up dropping her parents at the church, and driving down the road and sat in a bar until the ceremony was over.
We picked them back up, and headed to the reception. It was held in a fire house, and it was actually pretty awesome.
We were told we could go wander in by the fire trucks...so naturally we did...beers in hand.I was allowed to sit inside a truck and hit the horns. It was awesome.
Yes...I wore sneakers. Of course I did. They're my "fancy" sneakers. They're sparkly.
See..Christi wore sneakers too. 👌
Another weekend was spent on a little roadtrip up to Hinsdale, NY. We were going to be spending an evening in the Hinsdale House.
Don't know anything about it? Neither did I, honestly. I hadn't looked in to it at all until I saw an episode of Paranormal Lockdown.
(Go check it out. Read up a bit on the house. It's crazy.)
And then our friend was hosting an investigation there. We try to go out and support our friends in anything they do, so we were in for a mini roadtrip and investigation. And it turns out that we were not that far from my sister (who is in Rochester) so we planned to meet her for lunch before we drove back home.
So...the investigation was on Saturday. We decided we would just leave early on Saturday morning and drive up.
We got to the hotel, checked in, and just chilled out for a bit. There was a group of 6 of us, not including our friend hosting the event.
Once he was good to go...we all headed out to meet the owner for dinner beforehand. We went to this awesome little BBQ place.
There turned out to be a decently sized group of people for the event. I'd say about 20.
We were given a brief history of the house and land...and then split up in to 2 groups. We ended up starting out inside, and the other group went outside.
Now...a lot happened that night. I know the world is full of skeptics. (I am a skeptic...I believe...but I question EVERYTHING. I like to call myself a skeptical believer.) There are things that happened that night that I cannot explain away....and believe me I would if I could.
The only one that I am going to touch on right now is what happened upstairs.
But before we get to that, I'm laughing right now just thinking about this moment. We were sitting in the living room doing a spirit box session. One of the people helping run the event started saying her stomach was hurting. She got up and walked over by the door where the owner was standing. Without skipping a beat...he goes..."Do you have to poo?" It was the most honest, and absolutely hilarious, question ever. We all laughed pretty hard.
Okay..back to what I am going to touch on...
There were about 10 of us upstairs. 6 of us were in this small bedroom. There were 3 of us on the bed, one by the door, one in front of the bed, and one directly in front of me next to the bed. Our friend was standing outside the bedroom asking some questions and trying to get responses from either a spirit box or through EVP. We were all sitting still on the bed. Out of nowhere my neck started to feel warm. I dismissed it for a bit. Then it started to get more intense so I started just saying out loud "My neck is hot." I said it 3 or so times...and then finally I couldn't take it. I said louder "My neck is really hot!" and that finally alerted someone. Christi walked over and told me to turn around. She looks and just goes, "UH SEAN!" and doesn't tell me what's up. Sean, our friend running the event, comes over and is like DUDE! Then proceeds to have everyone look and I'm standing there like UM WILL SOMEONE TELL ME WHATS GOING ON?! Christi takes a picture and shows me.
I know this world is full of skeptics...I know most of you won't believe this. I have ZERO explanation. I didn't touch my neck. I was sitting surrounded by people who would have seen me do it. No one near me touched me. I was wearing a hoodie...it couldn't have been scratched. My necklaces could not have done it. I really have no explanation. It wasn't there before I went in. And it ended up blistering a bit by morning.
Again...no explanation.
I was a bit shook after that...understandably. We went about the rest of the night with some pretty awesome evidence. Overall, it was an interesting night. I definitely want to go back, but I want to go back and rent out the place ourselves. Not have so many people in there.
We left there, and went out for a drink. A few of us partied a little harder than the others. This lead to an interesting 4am knock at the door. But...we had fun.
We met my sister for lunch the next afternoon. She drove a bit to meet us at a pizza place. We took her to a cemetery afterwards. She didn't seem in to any of it, but she came along. After that she headed on her way, and we headed back on ours.
It was the premier night of Walking Dead, so we had to be sure we were home in time. Walking Dead is a big thing in my house. Don't disturb anyone from 9-10/10:30 on Sundays.
For 2 weekends around Halloween, Christi and I volunteered to help out at a haunted house in town. A Halloween haunted house...not a real haunted house. The craziest part of all of this? I absolutely hate Halloween haunted houses. I am a baby. They scare me to the point of panic. I don't know why. I also don't know why I can walk right into a real haunted place no issues..but the fake shit scares me.
Anyway, it ended up being a blast. The first night we volunteered...we were made clowsn. Yep, yet another thing I absolutely hate. But...it was awesome. I had never done anything like that before, so it was an awesome time. We did it 2 other nights, and we were moved around to different rooms. I had the most fun being a clown, though. I think Christi would agree with that.
We went to a Halloween party/the bar after one of the evenings. We figured the bar would have people dressed up. It worked out perfect because were already all bloody and stuff. Christi put on some boots and a vest and went as someone who died in a mosh. I would like to pat myself on the back by adding in a pretty awesome extra little piece on her head...
Genius.
I believe in the last blog, I touched on how Christi and I had gotten tickets to see the Impractical Jokers Live.
Well, we went. It was awesome.
We got there early, so we hung out at the bar across the street. They know us there by now. We go before all of the Devils games.
We went inside when they opened the doors. We were both hungry, so we got some food. I left Christi at the table eating, and went to go enter in a contest to go on the Impractical Jokers cruise. While I was gone, Christi got asked if she wanted to participate in the pre show. I came back to her in a panic talking to the guy asking if her friend could join too. He said of course. Told us that we had 10 minutes to learn the song we were singing...and that they would buy us beer.We went on youtube, looked up what we were singing...and devised a plan. The moment came for us to do our thing, and it was amazingly hilarious. We didn't win, of course. But it was still awesome...and we got a free beer...and we will forever be on a Facebook Live video on the Impractical Jokers Facebook page. (I tried to get a link, but I can't figure out how to get a link to a Facebook Live video.)
The actual event itself was entertaining. The Jokers are as nice as you would want them to be. During commercials they were out in the crowds taking pictures and signing autographs. Joey Fatone ended up being there. The stunts were awesome. The punishment was hilarious. It was an overall good decision to buy those tickets. We had a blast...as usual.
If you know me at all, you know I love beards. I have always loved beards. I thoroughly enjoy that the thing now is for guys to have beards. It's amazing.
That being said, it shouldn't surprise anyone that I love Duck Dynasty. That's not just because of their beards, I have just always loved that show. Turns out, Christi does too.
We saw on Facebook that Willie was having a book signing near us. So we went.
He ended up being late, but that was okay. He was very nice. He told Christi if he wasn't under contract, (funny because they announced they were stopping the show the morning after we met him) he would have hair like her.
Adding to the list of random things Christi and Amy do...we went to a Gala. Yep, a Gala. A dress up and be proper all night long Gala.
Christi knew she was going to this Gala for about a week. Amy...did not. I got a phone call from Christi about about 3pm the day of the Gala. Christi found out she could bring someone with her...naturally she asks me. The only problem was that I was at work...and I needed to be ready in like 2 hours...for a GALA.
I left work at 3:30 and flew home. I ran inside in a panic. I don't own anything super fancy. I have a bunch of dresses, yes. But, I don't own anything floor length or super dressy. I went with the dressiest looking dress I had. I slapped some makeup on my face and put my hair up in something nice.
Christi picked me up, and off we went.
The Gala was to support a college. The culinary school made all of the food. It was interesting. It was 2 floors. They opened up the classrooms (which were kitchens) and each one had a different theme. The students were there serving you everything. It was all hors d'oeuvres.
We then sat in a big room for dessert and some awards and speeches. It was overall an interesting, but fun night.
Of course we can only stay classy for so long.
Remember that Devils game I said I won tickets to? It was a blast. Our friend Sloan did come with us, and he loved it. They had people dressed up as Star Wars characters. They had Star Wars themed games. They played videos. They had music. It was overall a fun night...even though the Devils lost.
I like to hide behind things.
For real this time, I think we are finally hitting a time where we can just relax. I am sure the new year will being some awesome adventures. We already have some things planned for the summer. I look forward to 2017.
Let the good times roll.
