The weekend we cant believe we survived

Welcome back all.  As I'm sure you can guess this will be another discussion involving alcohol, friends and fun.  We're just going to flash back to a very fun weekend to hopefully give you a laugh.  This one is a bit lengthy though (it is a whole weekend worth of events), sit back and enjoy the ride.  Disclaimer: the names of some people have been changed to protect their identity.  So todays chat chit will be about one of my favorite things in the whole wide world... Halloween *insert ghoulish laugh here*.

Ok so for those of you who know me I love all things Halloween.  If you don't, it's more of a lifestyle than just a holiday in my world.  I love all things dark, creepy, spooky, etc.  You get the picture, I'm sure.  I go over the top with decorating and it can be quite an elaborate process.  Ok so back to the point of this post.  Amy's birthday is only a few days before Halloween, and she does not like to go any haunted attractions, real haunted places no problem, clowns popping out big ol' nope.  She was dating this guys who decided to enlist me in throwing her a zombie/ghost birthday party.  This was sooooo out of character for him so I was beyond willing to do this with him.  So I recruit some other friends to help this process and the planning begins.  Little by little we start working on this mind you it is the beginning of September.

The location: My Backyard
The date: October 30th
The prep time: Almost 2 months
Biggest regret: No one took pictures of how awesome my house looked

This is where things get interesting... the break up.  The middle of September the relationship is over.  We decide fuck him she deserves this party, and dammit its going to be awesome. So a surprise it shall remain.  Well, not quite, he decided to tell her that he had planned all this.  So now Amy is helping.  Weekends, after work and any time we had got poured into this party.  Also a lot of beer got poured into our stomachs.  I cant even guess how many 30 packs were involved in this process as well. But after all was said and done the place looked so bad ass.  So finally it's time to party.  Of course its freezing out, so naturally we light the fire and the guests start to arrive.  The only rule of the night: when Shots by LMFAO is played everyone had to take shots.  The beer pong on the coffin table begins, the antics begin (somehow I was lifted in a chair) that didn't last long.  Finally its piñata time.  But in true fashion, the piñata doesn't have candy inside, now I'm sure your thinking to yourselves " but Christi what else could you have possibly filled it with?" excellent question.  The answer my friends is...airplane bottles.  You read that right tiny bottles filled with alcohol.  Best idea ever.  Worst idea ever, drinking whatever green concoction I grabbed and the other random bottle of god knows what.  We had an awesome night and everything finally shut down around 3:30 am.

So the next day rolls around and what do we do?  Get up get our shit together and head to Rahway for a zombie pub crawl. Day 2 of heavy drinking Bring. It. On.  So we get to the hotel room, start drinking, start putting our make up on and prepare to head to the bars.  The first bar has karaoke so of course we are psyched.  We do a few songs and move on to the next place.  We keep on going and the one bar had a really cool cover band I want to say Off the Wagon but I'm not positive.  They were so much fun we got to dance and drink but to the next stop we go.  Then the shots started and the night went down hill quickly from there.  We finish the bar crawl and go back to the bar with karaoke.  Our friend we will call him Steve did the most epic drunken rendition of Kryptonite you will ever hear.  Finally Amy and I were done our bodies could not take in any more alcohol.  We drank so much our lips were chapped.  So back to the hotel we go.  Drunky McDrunk Steve got in the front seat of an Uber to direct him to the hotel. Not good.  He gave totally wrong directions ended up putting us on the wrong side of the building so we had to cross a fresh cut lawn and hop a construction fence.  Finally we get back to the room and Steve starts ripping the living room apart screaming about people sleeping in there.  Also screams no touching while I sleep and proceeds to starfish himself on the bed.  The next morning Amy needed to be explained to why she was covered in grass.  A lot of laughing happened towards Steve since he never gets that way.  Well thanks for the patience of this long story.  We had a blast hope you enjoyed.

Stay classy my friends,

Christi

We're all infected...with the sickness.

Good Morning!

Happy Monday...if Monday can ever be happy.

This weekend was one of those weekends that kept us going nonstop, but I never regret these weekends. (Which is good...because these next 2 are going to be busy.)

This is going to be a long one...so get those snacks and beer. I'll wait.
*Jeopardy Music*
Okay. You comfy? You good? I'm just going to take one of those beers and get going on this post.

Our weekend started off slow. We spent Friday night catching up on some TV and relaxing. One of Christi's friends came over. She got to meet the new guinea pig. Yep...new guinea pig. I may have sort of made Christi get a guinea pig. Woops. You see...we went to a pet store, and they had a cage on the floor with this little piggie. She was so little, I knew she had to be less than a year old. We bent down to see her, and she came right over to the side of the cage. I was hooked already. There was a sign on top of her saying she was up for adoption. So...I decided we needed to ask about her. We went to find someone who worked there (found a little snake on the floor in the process) and found out that someone had dropped her and another piggie off earlier in the week. Someone had adopted her friend, but not here. The woman told us PLEASE TAKE HER! If I don't have someone take her...she will be...ya know.. (snake food). I immediately was like can we hold her?! She said of course. From the second the woman handed her to me, I was hooked. She immediately crawled up in to my neck and snuggled in. She was so lovable. She obviously had come from a home where they had handled her. So..I'm not sure why they got rid of her. Anyway...I have 2 male guinea pigs. This was a female guinea pig. See the problem? This is how Christi ended up with a guinea pig. My Dad has already fallen in love. Sally (that's her name) will now have to come to my house for "playdates".

So anyway...back to the weekend. Friday was relaxing.
Saturday...we had a wedding to go to in Pennsylvania.
We got up a little early so we could spend the morning walking around the Flea Market at the Meadowlands. If you've never been, go. It's actually pretty awesome. We have walked out of there with some pretty awesome stuff.
We walked around for a bit, and went home.

It was quite a fiasco trying to figure out what time we were leaving for the wedding. We were going with Christi's parents..and no one was making a time decision. It was quite a morning. But...finally...a decision was made. We were to meet her parents at their lake house to leave at 4:15.

Christi and I parted ways after the Flea Market to get ourselves together.
It's about a 45 minute drive to Christi's lake house..and then it was about another 45 minutes to the wedding. We decided that we were would ride to the lake in crappy clothes and just change at the lake house. Well...like 15 minutes in to our trip, Christi's mom calls me all panicked because we aren't there yet. (It's about 3:30 at this point) We were like what are you talking about, we are on our way. Welp, turns out she forgot she said 4:15. All was okay.
It then started to rain...not not rain...pour. You have to walk down these pretty rickity stairs to get to the lake house...so I decided that I was going to just change while we were driving. I borrowed some shoes from Christi (remember this...this will come in to play later) so I had to make sure they fit. In true Amy fashion...I didn't bring any back ups. So if these shoes didn't fit, I was going in flip flops.
They did fit, but 2 of the straps were broken. I was going to make it work.
I got my dress on and was good to go.
When we got to the house, Christi quickly put her dress on, and went down to the house to let her parents know we were there. She brought me back some super glue, and the shoes were fixed.
We then headed off to the wedding.

We got to the venue (which was absolutely gorgeous) with like 15 minutes to spare. Christi and I went in a head of her parents because they were taking a bit, and I had on heels (actually wedges..high wedges). I don't wear heels. I can't walk in heels. So, I had to take my time. We get to the door, and a man is there to escort us. He helps us both up the stairs. We then walk down a hallway to the reception room. He says We have to go downstairs and outside. I'm like great...I should have just worn the flip flops. We get to the outside door. He helps Christi down the stairs...turns around to grab my hand and help me...annnnnnd I fall. Not just like trip..nope. I fell. Right in front of everyone...including the groom/groomsmen. (Told you to remember the shoes.) Of course. I took off the shoes. Told everyone I was fine. Got up. And just kept walking. At this point Christi has tears running down her face she was laughing so hard. I had a mild moment of embarrassment. (It does happen from time to time) and said she can't tell anyone. That lasted about the length of the ceremony (which was made epic by the bride and groom's daughter stealing the spotlight) and I let Christi tell her parents I fell. Christi was still basically crying in laughter at this point, but her parents were like okay. Didn't find it as funny.

We took one picture that night. I really need to start trying to remember to take pictures.

There was also a photo booth. It happened to be right behind us, so Christi and I got in there early on.

Our mission then became to get her parents to take a picture with us. It really didn't end up being as difficult as we imagine. Her Dad agreed pretty easily.

(The Bride and Groom's daughter decided she wanted to photobomb us.)

The wedding was fun. I learned how to the The Wobble. I got in to every picture I could. (No one there knew me. It will be fun when the Bride and Groom get their wedding pictures back) It was entertaining. But...as everyone should already know...Christi and I are great wedding guests. We always have fun...and we always make sure everyone around us has fun.

So, then we come to Sunday. Now...every so often we have these days where the next morning we both sit back and go...Is this real life? Welp, I am having on of those moments right now.

We went to go see Disturbed. (And Breaking Benjamin, Saint Asonia and Alter Bridge) We were both pretty psyched because they are pretty epic live. If you haven't seen then, you should.
We left a little early figuring we could hang out in the parking lot with a few beers before we went in. It was pretty packed when we got there. We hung out by Christi's truck for a bit, then decided we were going to head down to where my friend was to hang out. We met up with my friend and his friends for a bit, then headed inside.

Christi was meeting up with a friend she hadn't seen in about 12 years. So we separated from my friend, and went to go find him. We found him, and ended up standing over by them for a bit. In the time that we were standing with them, Saint Asonia was playing. The lead singer is also the singer from Three Days Grace. They played a few of those songs, so I was pretty content.
Once they were off, I was greeted by this guy I had talked to for a bit on Match. Yes, I am on Match. Isn't every single millennial on Match these days? Seriously though, I only joined back up because there was a Groupon. But back to the story. He ended up not being at all what he made himself seem on the internet. Shocker...right? And I was pretty uncomfortable. It ends up he came to the show by himself..which was weird. So, I felt like he expected to just hang with us. I told Christi I needed an out. She said she would be right back, and left. At this point things got super uncomfortable. It takes a lot to make me that uncomfortable...and I was. I started to get a little panicky when it took Christi awhile to come back. I started texting my other friend, telling him what was going on. He offered to say that we were there together and say we were seeing each other. He even threw in I'll hold your hand. He knew I was uncomfortable, haha. But...he was on the other side of the lawn...that wasn't going to save me at that point. He sent his friend over. As his friend was on her way over, Christi finally came back. She had gone to the merch booth to buy a tshirt...her plan was to have me change out of my orange tank top (since I was super noticeable) and put on the tshirt she had just bought. (She bought the tshrit in a size bigger than she wanted for me. What a friend, haha) I decided to tell the kid I was going to the bathroom, and I walked away. I feel terrible for doing that...but I did.
We finally met back up with my friend, and his friend ended up coming back by us. The rest of the night was pretty awesome.

They know us well, apparently.

Breaking Benjamin was better than I thought they would be.
Disturbed was absolutely epic. Totally top of list of best live bands I have ever seen. David Draiman sounds exactly like he does on a CD. If you ever get the chance to see them...GO.
They kicked ass on all the harder songs...but broke it down beautifully for "Sound of Madness". It was a packed crowd, and everyone's phones and lighters in the air was an awesome site to see.

Overall...this was an eventful weekend. We have quite the next few weeks coming up.
August 4th - Florida Georgia Line at PNC.
August 5th - Bush and Chevelle at Stone Pony.
August 13th - Goo Goo Dolls at PNC.
August 14th - Blink 182 at PNC.
And who knows what else will pop up during the weeks between those shows.

We said we were going to make summer epic...and we are.
When you stop doing things for other people, and start doing for you...your life becomes something you love.
Without a friendship like Christi and I have...I don't think I would be doing what I'm doing.

Let the good times roll.
